The Worship Choir

The Worship Choir leads in worship as well as providing special music at our 10:45 a.m. Morning Worship Service. The Choir is open to all people, 15 years of age and older, who love to sing and have a strong desire to lead in worship. Rehearsal times include Wednesday nights 6:45 – 8:00 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. Time commitment is usually around 3 hours a week. A four month commitment is expected.

Small Ensembles

Small Ensembles are regularly formed from members of the choir and are used throughout the year to provide additional special music. Practice for Small Ensembles is on an “as needed” basis. These small ensembles are also used in ministry to retirement centers, prisons and other venues.

Orchestradsc_2609-c

The Church Orchestra accompanies worship weekly in our 10:45 a.m. service. The Orchestra is open to individuals 15 years of age and older who are fairly competent in their instrument playing ability. The Orchestra is asked to learn and perform music pieces in a rather short time frame and thus experience is recommended. The Orchestra meets every week at 8:45 A.M. on Sunday morning. The time commitment is about 3 hours a week.

More Than Just Music

This past year members of the Choir and Orchestra ministered in and to our community through worship services in the state prison and the military chapel. We participated in a community Thanksgiving service and caroled in a retirement center. We are always looking for other opportunities to minister. If you have any suggestions please contact pastor Paul W. Ellis at pellis@valleyshepherd.org.

Special Events

The Choir and Orchestra both participate in special seasonal events including a Christmas musical, special Easter music and non-seasonal Worship musicals. Practices for the Christmas musical “Evening In December” begins in September, while practice for an early spring musical and Easter music begins in January. If you are interested in this area of ministry, please contact pastor Paul W. Ellis – pellis@valleyshepherd.org

The Valley Shepherd Tech Team

The Tech Team is a vital part of what takes place every Sunday morning at Valley Shepherd. God has blessed us with some wonderful sound, lighting and video equipment with which to reinforce our worship. Opportunities are available to those 16 years of age and older to work on the sound board, video camera, video mixer, computer media, and the lighting board. All areas require training, and a 4 month commitment. The weekly commitment is approximately 2 hours and is normally done on a two weeks on two weeks off rotation. Sound board operation requires extensive background knowledge and previous experience. Contact pastor Paul W. Ellis at pellis@valleyshepherd.org or Tech Team Leader, Al Duddles.

Media Ministries

Pastor Paul is always on the look out for individuals who have a passion for creating new and innovative media for ministry. If you have a passion for designing or creating backgrounds for Power Point, video illustrations for sermons, or eye catching pamphlets and mailers please contact pastor Paul W. Ellis at pellis@valleyshepherd.org

Drama Ministries

Valley Shepherd is anxious to begin using short dramatic sketches in our worship. Our sanctuary is well equipped with lighting and sound and we have a store house of props and costuming. If you would be interested in leading or overseeing such a ministry please contact pastor Paul W. Ellis at pellis@valleyshepherd.org

Handbell Choir

Valley Shepherd has been blessed with a full set of handbells, as well as all that is needed for performing with them. If you have an extensive background in music and would be interested in coordinating and leading such a group please contact pastor Paul W. Ellis at pellis@valleyshepherd.org
