Hello! My name is Casey Wilkerson, and I am the Children’s Pastor here at Valley Shepherd Nazarene.
My wife Alyssa and I are dedicated to seeing the lives of children and their families transformed through the saving power of our Savior Jesus Christ. We are very excited about what God is doing in Meridian, Idaho, and we cannot wait to see how God will continue to work in the lives of His people.
Some of our regular activities include:
- Sunday School- Sundays from 9:30-10:45 for all ages
- Children’s Church- Sundays from 10:45-12 up to 6th grade
- Caravans (A Bible-based boy/girl scout program)- Wednesday nights all ages up to 6th grade
- Upward Basketball and Cheerleading. January- March
- Children’s Bible Quizzing
- 3-6 grade New Year Pajamboree. Dec. 31st. 8pm
- Vacation Bible School. In June
- Summer Camps for 1-6 graders
- Children’s Christmas Programs (2yrs-K and 1-6 grade)
- Easter Egg Hunt (all ages up to 6th grade)
- Family Movie Nights
- Summer Activities (for kids and their parents)
- 6th Grade Transition Weekend Retreat (in May)

Sunday School
Our children’s Sunday School program is divided into three categories. Nursery, Pre-K, and Grade School. In our nursery we provide loving trained workers who will make sure that your children are safe while you worship. Our Pre-K department uses a combination of learning styles to help stimulate your child’s ability to learn and remember what they have been taught about God. Our Grade school program uses Nazarene Publishing house materials that ensures that your child will learn a wide range of material from Biblical facts to Catechism.

This Christian scouting program is excellent for not only teaching your child more about God and church but also teaches many of the same practical things that boy scouts or girl scouts teaches. This program is on Wednesday nights and starts at 6:45.
Wee church
Our wee church program is our Pre-K children’s church program. We provide a story time, play time, and a craft time all centered around the topic they learned in Sunday School. We accept children 2 through Kindergarten into this program. You may register your child at the same time you check them in for Sunday School or you may accompany your child to wee church and sign them in at that time. Check in at Early Childhood Counter. Kids checked in at Sunday School do not need to be re-checked in for Children’s Church. One check in upon arrival and kids will be picked up at the same area.
Nursery
Our Nursery is broken into two groups. Our infant nursery is for 0-1 year olds. This room is designed to handle the special needs that infants have along with providing mothers a comfortable place to change or feed their baby.
Our next room is the toddler room which is for the 1 - 2 year old child. This room has more advanced toys and provides snacks as needed
Tanya Oman is the director of both nurseries. Hired and volunteer workers (background check approved) are scheduled to ensure a safe and inviting nursery.
