PLANNING FOR ANOTHER BIG DAY!

We’ve had three Sundays in our new facility now—and my sense is that we’ve enjoyed every minute of it!  I especially enjoyed the opportunity this past Sunday to meet people new to the church—and was delighted how many stayed to get acquainted over coffee and dessert after the service and the building tour.  Our attendance has been phenomenal these past three weeks—1032, 685, and then this past Sunday 650.

Next Sunday is a significant day in the life of Valley Shepherd Church as we come together to dedicate our new facility to the Lord!  Dr. Jim Diehl, General Superintendent in the Church of the Nazarene, will be preaching this Sunday.  You’ll love Dr. Diehl!  Let me encourage you to invite someone to worship with you this Sunday for this very special occasion.  And then, as we come together, I hope you’ll all assume the unofficial role of “greeters” as we welcome those visiting our new church home.

You might also note the opportunities to invite others during this Advent season.  The        December 16 morning service will feature our children, and I’ll have the opportunity to speak to both the young and the old that morning!  The morning of December 23 we’ll enjoy an extra heavy dose of marvelous Christmas music.  And Christmas Eve—December 24th—has become a great opportunity to invite family and friends to join us for Carols by Candlelight—a warm, yet significant time of worship as we celebrate the birth of our Savior.

It’s great to be on the journey with you!

As we continue to smooth out our parking issues, we would encourage those who can carpool to do so. We are pursuing additional parking locations at this time.  Each Sunday, we have a parking crew who identify locations of parking spaces and inform each other, via radio, so traffic can be routed most effectively.  When parking spaces close to the building are full, our crew will direct traffic offsite and call for buses to take people to the church building.  For those who require it, we also provide valet parking from the Prayer Chapel entrance.  Finally, we would encourage those who do not need to park close to the church to park in the outlying parking spaces.  This will allow spaces for visitors and for those who, because of physical issues, need to park closer to the church.
